You probably heard there are stages of grief. But there are also stages of love. As much as people try to say that love is forever, or that love is a chemical reaction that lasts a certain time (which it probably is, but let me have it my way), it is true that some people manage to stay in love forever, with its ups and downs throughout time.
Have you ever fallen?
I know I have.
A love chronicle
I have had my fair share of relationships, and -don’t get me wrong- I love dating someone new. The tingles it produces as I am getting ready for the new Tinder blind/not-so-blind date (yes, I used Tinder, don’t judge me… You have checked it out too) and walking nervously out of the house as you wonder if he’ll really look like his pictures.
In the boyfriend scene, I haven’t been as lucky.
My college boyfriend and first meaningful relationship cheated on me as I was going through a medical treatment (hormones, nothing too serious, but obviously represented some physical distance). He left me weeks before we were supposed to go to Portugal for a semester. I ended up thanking destiny because I got to live out my life to the fullest.
My second affaire was in Portugal (yeah… I didn’t waste ANY time at all!), with a guy who took my hand throughout Portugal and Spain, I met his family and he met mine. I learned and matured so much in that relationship, and I will be forever grateful to him for loving me the way he did. With both of us studying, we couldn’t make it work after I came back to Mexico and he stayed back in Spain.
My third and most meaningful relationship is the one that has me broken currently. The man I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. It all happened so fast, I’m still learning to cope with it after months of him going back to his country, India.
Although I shared a lot with the three men I have listed before, the last one was everything. He is the one that shaped my definition of love. The one I could feel would take me through all the stages of love to last a lifetime.
But of course, it didn’t happen. It was his culture that ate us up.
I will be posting the whole story…. Cause I know I just picked your curiosity!
Update: You can read how went absolutely psycho, and booked a ticket to India…. And how I finally set myself free.
